MXNet 1G Encoder/Transmitter Device

Series: MXNet

Model: AC-MXNET-1G-E

  • M-JPEG –
  • AV-o-IP in the 1Gbps format does not have an international standardized protocol that can be considered a complete specification (unlike, for example, MPEG-2).
  • This is one reason different manufacturers utilize various codecs, each touting their implementation as the best.
  • AVPro Edge uses a proprietary Motion JPEG codec based on our Imaging Science Foundation experience and the parameters required to produce superb image fidelity for AV-o-IP.
  • The codec AVPro Edge engineers developed and implemented in MXnet 1G focuses on having our encoders and decoders produce the best picture quality for AV-o-IP 1G and not overly ambitious and misleading specifications.

All signals begin their journey through an MXnet system when entering the AC-MXNET-1G-E Encoder (Transmitter). Whether an HDMI source, analog audio, RS-232 and IR control data, or KVM-related signals, once connected each becomes encoded into the multicast data format stream, ready for routing to any Decoder endpoint within the project.

Using Cat 5e (or better) wiring, fiber optic cabling, or a hybrid configuration featuring both types to interface with an MXnet Network Switch, an MXnet 1G system will transmit content to another room or even another zip code.

As an integral part of the MXnet 1G family, the AC-MXNET-1G-E is designed and manufactured in-house, alongside exclusive AVPro Edge network switches plus the CBox system controller, which serves as host for MXnet MENTOR, our universally acclaimed, intuitive software suite, developed in conjunction with all MXnet 1G products. AC-MXNET-1G-E encoders and AC-AC-MXNET-1G-D decoders bookend an MXnet system as endpoints for all source control inputs and outputs.

The AC-MXNET-1G-E encodes HDMI signals up to 4K, 4:2:0, and 30fps. Multicast IP packeting combines control data and Power over Ethernet with the A/V signal, for transport through the network with near-zero latency. Within the MXnet Ecosystem, products work in tandem to provide up/down scaling for systems with mixed resolution displays, complete EDID and HDCP management, plus built-in video wall design, all courtesy of MENTOR, AVPro Edge’s exclusive suite of software tools for system setup, control, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.

Never before have integrators had an all-inclusive, AV-o-IP system available from a single manufacturer at a level this comprehensive, implemented into a format with a design goal for plug-and-play ease and deployment simplicity, completely backed by world-class tech support with an industry-leading ten-year, hassle-free warranty.

  • Many devices in the marketplace declare compatibility with high-bitrate codecs but exhibit dreadful real-world performance.
  • GENLOCK Support –
  • Genlock is a professional video technology that synchronizes the video output from one source to all devices receiving that signal.
  • Genlock prevents artifacts when switching sources, essential for video walls and areas where multiple displays are observable and all exhibiting the same image.
  • Data Window –
  • A front-facing built-in mini OLED screen on MXnet 1G encoders displays vital set-up and troubleshooting information, such as IP and MAC addresses, or twelve-character custom source names using MXnet MENTOR.
  • Encoder External Illumination Control –
  • The mini OLED and various LEDs on the encoder chassis provide important status information, however, it may be preferable for discrete operation that no light be output by the encoder.
  • Using MXnet MENTOR, control over the visibility of the device may be easily adjusted.
  • Control Signal Routing –
  • RS-232 and IR control signals may be routed via an AC-MXNET-1G-E encoder.
  • Routes, through a network switch, are plotted in MXnet MENTOR with paths directed to MXnet 1G decoders and subsequently passed through to connected devices.
  • USB and KVM Support – Encoders feature USB-B host connections, enabling keyboard/mouse connection and routing to an upstream decoder.
  • MXnet MENTOR software specifies which encoder will serve as the Host plus the USB device connected to the designated decoder.
  • Netgear Support –
  • MXnet and Netgear engineers have collaborated to ensure Netgear switches are capable of supporting MXnet encoder and decoder operation.
  • The “AVPro Edge Profile” loaded into a designated Netgear switch enables seamless compatibility between products.
