Solution Lets People Control Scheduling, Climate, and Equipment in Meeting Rooms, and Allows Companies To Provide the Most Cost-Effective and Productive Meeting Spaces

Rockleigh, NJ, September 14, 2011 – PeopleCube and Crestron today announced that they have partnered to provide a comprehensive room-management solution that enables companies to maximize operational efficiencies and optimize resource utilization.

“Getting the right people to the right room with the right resources is the key to productive meetings and successful business, but it can be challenging,” said John T. Anderson, president and CEO of PeopleCube. “PeopleCube and Crestron have made it simple by combining active resource-scheduling technology with network control and communications hardware to create a comprehensive room-scheduling and resource-management solution that puts users in control and enables companies to cost-effectively manage their resources and energy consumption.”

Putting Users in Control of Their Environment

When connected to PeopleCube’s Resource Scheduler, Crestron touch screen devices located outside meeting spaces display all important room details. At a glance, people arriving at a room know if it is available or if a meeting is in progress. They can see who is behind the closed doors—without interrupting the meeting—and determine when the room will become available. They can even see the schedule for any room on the network and book their next meeting on the spot.

Once they are in a meeting, users with access to Crestron control systems are in command of the room. A simple swipe or tap turns on the projector, lowers the screen and shades, and dims the lights. When the meeting is over and the room is vacant, Crestron automatically puts the room to “sleep,” thus saving energy and extending the life of lamps and other resources.

Room-Management Reporting Allows for Analysis

In combination, Resource Scheduler and Crestron technology enable management to see:

·         Which rooms are used most often and by whom

·         How many rooms are used for spontaneous ad hoc meetings

·         Whether meetings last longer, or end earlier, than scheduled

·         How many meetings are scheduled and then cancelled

·         How many rooms are booked, but not used

Insights into room usage enable companies to plan for precisely the amount and type of meeting space that will enable employees to be productive, without incurring the incremental costs of providing—and supporting—excess real estate. Going a step further, information about space utilization enables management to conduct a thorough analysis as to whether it would be more cost-effective to eliminate, repurpose, or hibernate underused workspace, or leverage off-site facilities for certain events.
